Nashville Zoo offers number of animal
species including cheetah, zebra, ostrich, gibbons,
hyacinth macaw and more. The Zoo promotes environmental
and animal conservation through education and recreation.
The other zoo features include:
- The Zoo include the Jungle Gym, the country's
largest community-built playground, the Grassmere
Historic Farm, the New World exhibit, animal shows,
educational programs and more.
- The Safari Gift Shop for souvenirs has a wide
variety of things to please the shoppers. Purchase
a replica of your favorite animal or a Nashville
Zoo t-shirt or hat, or look at the elephant art.
- Cheeseburger Charlie’s Safari Grill offers
everything from humburgers, hotdogs, french fries,
to ice cream and cold & hot beverages. For group
visits you can order the meal and they'll prepare
it and have it waiting on your arrival.
- The Zoo provides wheelchair and assistance to
the hearing and sight impaired.
- Several areas are available for organizing corporate
or birthday parties at the Nashville Zoo at Grassmere.
- To help ensure the survival of selected wildlife
species the American Zoo and Aquarium Association
(AZA) manages the Species Survival Plan (SSP) Program.
Each SSP carefully manages the breeding of a species
in order to maintain a healthy, genetically diverse
and demographically stable population.
